Master of Business Administration

Courses and Curriculum

The Clemson MBA program offers a flexible, quality academic experience designed to prepare graduates for successful management careers in business. The program is a maximum of 56 credit hours (roughly 21 courses) for those with little work experience and no prior business education and a minimum of 36 credit hours (about 14 courses) for those with significant work experience and education in business. The Clemson MBA program is offered on the Clemson University campus and at the University Center in Greenville.

Full-Time

The full-time Clemson MBA is offered on the Clemson University campus in a close-knit environment in which students develop a lifelong network of friends and contacts. Depending on your undergraduate degree and prior work experience, the full-time program can be completed in as little as 12 to 15 months or as long as 21 months. We will encourage you to pursue an internship or participate in a study abroad experience during the summer months.

Part-time

Part-time, working professional students must have a minimum of two years of work experience, but often have five to 10 years of experience. Students who choose to pursue the Clemson MBA part time can take classes on campus or in Greenville at the University Center. If you take two courses per semester year-round, you can complete the MBA in two to three years.

Emphasis Area

In addition to a core of business foundation courses, MBA students select areas of emphasis to build deeper expertise in an area that matches their career goals. Some students choose to pursue a second master’s degree, which can then be substituted for the emphasis area. Areas of emphasis include:
  • Innovation/Entrepreneurship: Management of new business development initiatives, new venture launch, technology and innovation management and other topics related to creativity, innovation and leadership.
  • Health Services (Greenville only): Management within the health care environment, including health care policy, finance and administration.
  • Marketing Analysis (on campus only): Market research and analysis in business decision making.
  • Supply Chain and Information Management: Management of supply chain design and logistics, supplier relationships, information systems that support supply chain management.
  • Real Estate (on campus only): Principles of real estate development, financing and valuing real estate investments.
  • Services Science: Management of services, design of the customer experience, service delivery and operations, professional services.

Dual Degrees

Dual graduate degree opportunities (e.g., MS/MBA or MBA/Ph.D.) are available to interested and qualified students. An MBA and a second graduate degree can be earned in approximately two and a half to three years if the second graduate degree is about 30 hours and classes are taken full time. Students have combined their MBA with graduate degrees such as computer science, packaging science, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, bioengineering, construction science, management and marketing, to name a few. Many combinations are possible. Please contact the MBA office (MBA@clemson.edu) if you are interested in this option.
