Clemson Spectrum Program 

The Spectrum Program provides individualized services beyond standard accommodations to Clemson students diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Spectrum Program is committed to helping students build connections through their college experience that will assist them in achieving academic, social, and career and professional development success. They seek to support students and foster growth and independence in the following areas:

  • Academic Skills and Resilience
  • Personal and Interpersonal Skills
  • Career and Professional Development Skills
  • Independent Living and Social Skills

Spring 2020
  1. Practicum or preceptorship positions focused on assessing student’s recreational interests, helping them to connect with campus resources, and designing and coordinating group activities and/or participation for students.
  2. Practicum or preceptorship positions mainly focused on helping to implement the PEERS Social Skills Training Curriculum for Young Adults. Students would act as social coaches for program students. There would also be opportunities to administer assessments and contribute to other programming.
  3. Other opportunities can be developed to meet individual student’s program requirements.
Summer 2020
  1. One or two 160-hour practicum positions to develop campus activities for our incoming freshman students. The practicum student(s) would be responsible for designing campus orientation activities during the first part of the summer and then helping to implement these during the 4thsummer minimester. 
  2. One or two 80-hour practicum positions to help implement activities during the 4thsummer minimester.
  3. Other opportunities can be developed to meet individual student’s program requirements. 
Fall 2020
  1. Practicum or preceptorship positions focused on assessing student’s recreational interests, helping them to connect with campus resources, and designing and coordinating group activities and/or participation in campus activities for new and returning students.
  2. Other opportunities can be developed to meet individual student’s program requirements.
