How to find Header information

Sometimes it is necessary for our email admins to have more detailed information on your email. This allows us to see several things that a simple copy and paste of your email does not allow for. 

Here are some basic instructions for how to find your mail header:

In Outlook
In Xmail
In Gmail

Outlook

Step 1 - Once your Inbox is open in Outlook, double click on the message in question.

Step 2 - Then click on 'File'

Step 3 - Click on 'Properties'

Step 4 - Highlight and copy the information in the 'Internet headers'

Step 5 - Paste that information into an email directed to the appropriate recipient

Xmail

Step 1 - Log into 'xmail.clemson.edu'

Step 2 - Double click on the message in question

Step 3 - Once the message is open, click on the 'Message Details' button

Step 4 - Highlight and copy the information in the 'Internet Mail Headers'

Step 5 - Paste that information into an email directed to the appropriate recipient

Gmail

Step 1 - Log into your g.clemson account

Step 2 - Double click on the message in question

Step 3 - Once the message is open, click on the drop down arrow in the upper right hand corner

Step 4 - Select 'Show Original'

Step 5 - Highlight and copy the information in the new window

Step 6 - Paste that information into an email directed to the appropriate recipient
