Entourage 2008 EWS Setup

This document is targeted at users of Entourage 2008 EWS Version 13.0+.

Entourage 2008 EWS uses Exchange's Autodiscover service for setup. This feature is enabled on and off Campus networks.
–For First time users setup instructions are in this section.
–For Existing users setup instructions are in this section.
–For Common errors and troubleshooting are at the bottom of this document.

Important information you should know.

Your Exchange Forwarding Options must be enabled prior to starting your client setup.

Entourage Versions prior to 12.x of Entourage 2008 (including Entourage 2004) are no longer supported.
–2004 users are required to upgrade to Office 2008 +EWS edition or to Office 2011 for Mac.
–2008 version 12.x or older are required to update to EWS edition or upgrade to Office 2011.

Entourage 2008 EWS Setup for first time users.

EWS FT STEP1Step1: Start Entourage from your dock.

EWS FT STEP2Step2: This section is intended for new profiles; please select "Start using Entourage without importing anything".

EWS FT STEP3Step3: Input you Clemson Exchange e-mail address in the E-mail field, and select "My account is on an Exchange Server" check box.

EWS FT STEP4Step4: You may be prompted for accept a Clemson Certificate, Select "Always use my response for this server", and click Allow.

EWS FT STEP5Step5: When prompted input your credentials (your Domain: will always be campus)

EWS FT STEP6Step6: You will get a pop-up that will tell you that your Automatic configuration has succeeded. a. Note: If your message says it did not succeed, you will need to contact your support personal via http://ithelp.clemson.edu or the help desk.

EWS FT STEP7Step7: Verify your settings, they will look similar to this:

Domain: Campus

Exchange server:
https://xmail.clemson.edu/EWS/
Exchange.asmx

LDAP server: can be any of these depending on what directory server responds first.
  1. ADROOT1.CU.CLEMSON.EDU
  2. ADROOT2.CU.CLEMSON.EDU
  3. ADROOT3.CU.CLEMSON.EDU

EWS FT STEP8Step8: Next you will be prompted to verify your settings, it is advisable to click the Verify my Settings button

You will receive a "Your Account settings have been successfully verified" message upon success.

EWS FT STEP9Step9: Name your new account something descriptive, and select Finish.

  • This can be anything; ideally it should include your name and the type of account.

 

Entourage Setup (additional account)

This section is for users with existing e-mail accounts (i.e., Hotmail, Yahoo, or Google) they wish to preserve and are wanting to add an Exchange account, or an additional Exchange account.

EWS FT STEP1Step1: Start Entourage from your dock. (or applications folder.)

EWS CHK Step1Step2: With Entourage open, select Entourage then Account Settings.

EWS CHK STEP2Step3: Select New.

Entourage Exchange Settings Review

This section is provided in the event you need to review your Exchange mailbox settings for troubleshooting purposes. Due to how Entourage relies on Autodiscover for setup, these settings should not be considered a manual setup option when the client is experiencing connectivity issues. If you are experiencing issues with a setup, see the common setup errors section at the bottom of this document.

Troubleshooting Common Setup Errors

EWS ERR 1Account Setup Incomplete error: Most setup issues terminate in this single dialog box. Problems that produce this error are:

  • Typos in username and e-mail address.
  • Exchange forwarding has not been enabled.
  • Connectivity problems including PC not being NetReg'ed.

Users off the Campus network can also use the VPN service to connect to the Campus network. This should only be needed if they are experiencing issues. More info on VPN services can be found here.

Entourage 2008 EWS download information

Entourage 2008 users can download the EWS version from http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads , then selecting the link for Office 2008, and then selecting the link for Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac, Web Services Edition.
