Wireless
Wireless network access is available in many areas on campus and we continue to expand coverage areas.
Internal wireless coverage is generally provided at Clemson University
locations, both on and off campus, in academic and administrative
buildings, research labs and farms, athletic facilities, and student
residences, as well as PSA county extension offices and regional
education centers. Limited outdoor coverage is available in some
locations.
When using the wireless network there are some items to keep in mind when considering wireless access:
- CCIT Network Services is deploying wireless access points in many areas on campus. In order to maintain a reliable network we ask that departments, colleges, institutes, students, or research centers not purchase or install access points.
- Clemson's wireless infrastructure is capable of scalably supporting WPA2-enterprise capable 802.11a/g devices. There is no scalable way to support mobile devices that do not support this standard.
- If you are purchasing a laptop consider the Laptop Program recommended platform with the internal wireless adapter. Click here to be directed to the CCIT Laptop Purchasing Information page.
- If you have questions about wireless network access or would like to discuss plans your college or departments may have, please contact IT Support (ITHELP@clemson.edu), 656-3494).
