The following instructions explain how to configure Outlook 2007 to check Exchange email using the IMAP protocol. Open your Outlook Account Settings by going to Control Panel, clicking on the Mail icon, and then by clicking New. Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP and click Next. Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types box and click Next. Select Internet Email and click Next. Fill out the User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information in the Add New Email Account window as shown below, replacing the name, email address, user name, and password with your personal information. Then click the More Settings button. Select the Outgoing server tab, and be sure My outgoing server SMTP requires authentication is checked. Also be sure Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected. Nothing else should be selected. Select the Advanced Tab. Be sure Incoming server IMAP is set to 993. Use the following type of encrypted connection should be set to SSL. The Outgoing server SMTP should be 465. Use the following type of encrypted connection should be set to SSL. Be sure the Server Timeout is set to 1 minute. Click OK. Click the Test account settings button. If you have input the proper settings, you should see this message. Click Close, and youand39re done
