Emergency Text Messaging View The Full Article Rave Wireless Clemson University has purchased the Rave Wireless system to assist in alerting the Clemson campus of emergency situations that affect the campus. All Clemson University faculty, staff, and student email addresses receive emergency notifications through Rave Wireless. Clemson University strongly encourages all faculty, staff, and students to enter their mobile phone numbers for receipt of text messages as well. Additional safety measures are outlined on the CU Safety page at http://www.clemson.edu/CUSafety/. Logging in to Rave Wireless The easiest way to access Rave Wireless is to visit http://www.getrave.com/login/clemson. You can also log in to Blackboard at https://bb.clemson.edu once you are logged in to Blackboard, you will see a CU Applications and Web Sites box on the MyCLEmson tab that contains a link to CU Safe Alerts Rave Wireless. Once you have navigated to the Rave Wireless page, you may log in using the box located on the left of the screen. Your Rave username is your Clemson email address in the format useridclemson.edu. Note:Your Rave Wireless account is separate from your Clemson account and does not share the same password.If you have never accessed Rave Wireless before, you must first create an account. This process is outlined below in the section entitled and39Creating a Rave Wireless Accountand39. If you already have a Rave Wireless account, but have forgotten your password, it may be recovered by clicking and39Forgot username or passwordand39 below the login box. Creating a Rave Wireless Account If you do not have an account with Rave Wireless, you may create one by clicking the and39Join Nowand39 button on the front page, or by going directly to https://www.getrave.com/alerts/register/remoteAuthenticationForm.do. Entering Registration Information Once you have clicked the and39Join Nowand39 button, you will be presented with a form asking for your account information. A description of each field is provided below: Registration Email required This is your useridclemson.edu email address and will also be used as your Rave Wireless login. Passwordrequired This password will be used to access your Rave Wireless account. Reenter Passwordrequired You must enter your selected password again to verify that it is correct. First name required Your first name. Last name required Your last name. Mobile Numberoptional This is the number you wish to receive text message alerts at. If no number is specified, you will not receive textbased alerts. This can beadded later if desired. Reenter Mobile Number optional If you entered a number into the Mobile Number field, you must retype it to verify accuracy. Preferred Emailoptional If you prefer that email alerts be delivered to a different address than your Clemson account, you may enter that address into this field Once you have completed filling in the registration form, you must read the Rave Terms and Conditionsat the bottom and confirm agreement by selecting the check box below it. Once you have completed the form, click and39Nextand39. Confirming Your Mobile Carrier If you entered a mobile number for text alerts, Rave Wireless will ask you to confirm your mobile carrier. This is the company that provides you with mobile service. If your carrier is not listed, you may specify it by clicking and39My carrier is not listedand39. Note: Selecting the wrong carrier may prevent you from receiving text alerts. Confirming Your Account Once you have completed the initial registration process, Rave Wireless will send an email to your Clemson address. This email contains the link which is required to activate your account. Once you have received this message, you must click the provided link to proceed with your account setup. Verifying Your Phone Number In order to receive mobile updates, you must first verify your phone number by entering the fourdigit code sent by text message to the number you provided. Once you have completed this step, click and39Finishand39.Your account should now be ready to receive alerts. Verifying Alert Settings Once logged in to your account, you should see a box entitled and39My Channelsand39 which shows what alerts you are currently subscribed to. All emergency messages will be sent out via the Clemson University Broadcast channel. To ensure you have your messaging preferences set up correctly to receive these messages on your preferred devices, verify that the button below each device displays and39Yesand39. If not, this can be changed by clicking the and39Noand39 buttonit will then toggle to the proper setting. These changes will be saved automatically. Note: If you no longer wish to receive email or text message updates, you may opt out by clicking the and39Yesand39 buttons under the respective method of communication. Tips CU Safety Alerts are sent using the numbers67283 and 226787. You may consider adding these numbers to your contact list using the name CU Safety so that youand39ll be able to easily recognize alerts. Text alerts can be stopped at any time by sending and39STOPand39 to either of the above numbers. Troubleshooting Problem: Iand39m Not Receiving Text Message Alerts Solution: First, verify that you are signed up for emergency alerts by logging on to your Rave Wireless account and confirming that the button below and39Alert me by: Textand39 displays and39Yesand39. If it doesnand39t, clicking it will change it to the proper value. If you are still not receiving alerts, it may be because yourmobile carriers is blocking the receipt of text messages from shortcodes, which Rave Wireless uses. The numbers used are67283and226787.
