HOW TO: Install Novell Client 4.91 SP2

The Novell Client can be installed in two different ways. There is a self extracting zip that is configured properly to install the client. These instructions are the first section entitled Self Extracting Zip Instructions. The Novell client can also be installed manually, as documented in the section Manual Install File Instructions.Please be aware that when you install this client, there will be entries for NMAS, NICI, and the Novell Client under Add/Remove Programs. Please do NOT remove these programs. Also, the installation files will be extracted to C:CSG Installs. You can clean up what is inside the CSG Installs folder, but please leave the folder in its place. This will be the location that future installs extract to. Note:You will need to rerun the cxlogin script after you install the 4.91 SP2 Client. Self Extracting Zip Instructions Go to T:softwareWINNWCLNT32WinNTXP2000NWClient 4.91 SP2 Full to get the installation file. Copy the file NovellClient down to the desktop. This will install the Novell 4.91 SP2 Client with NDPS, NMAS, and NICI. You do not have to select any options. Double click on this file to start the installation. Click the Reboot button when prompted. When the computer restarts, you will see a new Novell login box. First click the Advanced button in the lower right hand corner. You need to setup the Context for the user of the computer. The Context should be set to the firstletterofuserid.employee.clemsonu. Please do not specify a server to connect to. Manual Install File Instructions Go to T:softwareWINNWCLNT32WinNTXP2000NWClient 4.91 SP2 FullNovellClient4.91SP2. Double click on the file setupnw. Select Custom Installation and click the Next Button. Check the box next to Novell Distributed Print Services, then click the Next button. Check the box next to Novell Modular Authentication Services NMAS, then click the Next button. Make sure that IP Only is selected, check the box next to Remove IPX if present, and then click the Next button. Make sure that NDS Netware 4.x or later is selected, then click the Next button. Click the Finish button to start the file installation. Click the Reboot button when prompted. When the computer restarts, you will see a new Novell login box. First click the Advanced button in the lower right hand corner. You need to setup the Tree and Context for the user of the computer. The Tree should be set to clemsonu, and the Context should be set to the firstletterofuserid.employee.clemsonu. Please do not specify a server to which to connect. You need turn on SingleSign On. This will allow the user to sync their Windows Password with their Novell password easily. If works like this: first you must have the single signin enabled. Then, you login to Novell and then Windows. After you have logged into Windows successfully the first time, it will encrypt and store your Windows password from then on. If you change the Novell password, the Windows password will be automatically changed after the first sign on to Novell with the new password. Enable Single SignOn Open up the Novell Client Properties window by right clicking on the Red N in the system tray. Look for the Single SignOn Tab and click on it. Enable the check box for Single SignOn.
