An OMR Cover Sheet is required when using the SIG Test Grading Program. It is a purple scantron sheet that it used to mark the key for tests as well as analysis options and other fields, such as class name. It should be placed on top of the stack of OMR forms to be analyzed. The fields should be filled out according to the following instructions. There are also some special considerations for surveys, explained below use the table of contents on the left to jump to a particular section. Course/Instructor Name Fill in a course and/or instructor name. This information will be used as part of the title on all printed reports. Course and Section These fields will also be used as part of the title on all printed reports as well as identifying the course and sections for the answer key when multiple sections are scanned as a group. Students who code a section different from the COVER sheet will be flagged in the printout as an aid in finding students who were graded with the wrong key. If multiple sections are using the same key, code the section field as 00 on the COVER sheet. Number of Questions Enter the number of questions on the test or survey. This should be equal to the highest question number on the test.The program will drop questions from the analysis when no answer is coded on the answer key so this field indicates the number of questions BEFORE any are dropped. The number must be right justified with leading zeros for example, ten and39010and39. Test or Survey Indicate whether the forms are a test to be graded or survey to be analyzed. Responses Enter the correct responses for the questions of your test. You may specify more than one correct response for each question. However, students may enter only one response for each question. If you do not enter a response for a particular question, that question will be disregarded when calculating grades. A sheet will also be included in the report indicating which questions on the answer sheet were left blank. Analysis Options Hard copy printout is dependent upon the analysis options selected. A variety of options is available for test grading. A frequency distribution report is available for surveys. The Analysis Options are used to determine the output format of the SIG Test Grading Program. Output is available as hard copy printout, as a temporary OS/390 dataset, or as a file on an IBMformatted diskette. Separate analysis options are available for tests or surveys, depending upon the options selected. Analysis options are discussed in more detail below. The dataset name will be and39userid.OMRxxx.RAWDATAand39 where userid is the userid specified on the OMR Service Form, and OMRxxx is the is the OMR batch number. The DCB of the dataset will be LRECL80, BLKSIZE9040, RECFMFB, DSORGPS. 3. create OS/390 SAS dataset with entire form data. The library name will be and39userid.OMRxxx.SASDATAand39 where userid is the userid specified on the OMR Service Form, and OMRxxx is the is the OMR batch number. The SAS data set name will be OMRxxx. 4. create OS/390 SAS dataset with name, cuid, raw score, and percentage score. The library name will be and39userid.OMRxxx.SASDATAand39 where userid is the userid specified on the OMR Service Form, and OMRxxx is the OMR batch number. The SAS dataset name will be OMRxxx. 5. Append name, cuid, raw score, and percentage score into existing OS/390 SAS dataset by cuid. The existing SAS library name to be used will be and39userid.OMR.SASand39 where userid is the userid specified on the OMR Service Form. The SAS dataset name used will be OMRyyyyy where yyyyy is the course number from the OMR cover sheet. Raw score and percentage scores will be appended as variables raw and per where is the test number as indicated on the OMR Cover Sheet or OMR Service Form. Multiple Section Processing Multiple sections or tests can be processed as a group as long as all groups will use the same analysis options. To process multiple sections together, separate the sections by an OMR Cover Sheet coded for the following section. If multiple sections will use the same answer key, code a section of 00 on the cover sheet. The students will not be flagged as being in the wrong section as normally happens when a studentand39s section does not match the cover sheet section. Only the top OMR Cover Sheet will be used to determine which analysis options are to be used when the section number is 00. Temporary OS/390 Datasets Output datasets on the OS/390 mainframe are temporary in nature. They are automatically deleted two calendar days after their creation. They must be copied into a permanent dataset for longer storage. A SAS PROC CONTENTS procedure will yield the variables contained in SAS datasets. The sequential dataset names includes a reference to the OMR batch number. The OMR batch number can be found on the returned OMR Service Form. There are less analysis options for a survey, so it is recommended that you download the results and use an outside program to analyze them. Responses Surveys Responses do not need to be filled in for surveys. Analysis Options Surveys Only the first two columns are used for the analysis options on surveys.
