Laptop Setup Workshops

 

Laptop Workshop SignupLaptop Setup Workshops are strongly recommended for all new Clemson students. The workshops will cover topics like setting up Clemson wireless, network registration, Clemson network resources, printing and plotting, getting started with Clemson Google Apps, laptop security at Clemson, installing Clemson software, and many more...

Laptop workshops for new students will be available during the summer of 2015. Click on the image to the right to register for a workshop.

BRING YOUR POWER SUPPLY, ETHERNET CABLE, and ETHERNET DONGLE*!!!

* Apple laptops, the Dell M3800s, and the Lenovo Carbon X1 all require ethernet dongles.  Apple users will need to purchase one.  The install for a lot of this software is massive and cannot be done over wireless.  (Below is an example of what the dongle may look like.  Apple dongles are white.)

Students have a choice of three types of workshop. 

    • Apple Laptop Setup Workshop - for new students with Apple laptops (does not matter where they were purchased)
    • Windows Recommended (imaged) Laptop Setup Workshop - for students with one of the recommended Windows laptops with the software image installed on it
    • Windows Non-Recommended (non-imaged) Laptop Setup Workshop - for new students with Windows laptops (any kind) that do not have Clemson software already installed. (Must have Windows 7 or Windows 8. For Windows Vista or XP users - stop by Support Center for guidance on upgrading to Windows 7.)

All Windows laptops MUST have all Windows updates completed before the workshop!

Click on "Workshop Tutorials" for online video versions of many of the steps of the workshops. (Strongly recommended if you are unable to attend a workshop!)
