Shred Day 2011

Protect Your Identity at Shred Day 2011

October 25 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
All Clemson University faculty, staff and students are encouraged to bring any paper or computer-based storage media to be destroyed by a certified destruction company on Shred Day 2011 Tuesday, Oct. 25th.  From 9 a.m. to 12 Noon, bring any items you no longer need that contain personal information to the North Gate/Parking lot at LittleJohn Coliseum to be destroyed by Shred360 out of Chapin, SC.

This is the third annual sponsoring of this free event and it is hosted by Clemson's Office of Information Security and Privacy in observance of Cyber Security Awareness Month to shred virtually any storage medium that you can imagine.

Shredding materials that contain personal information is one way to help prevent the growing problem of identity theft. Items you may want to consider shredding include:

On-site destruction for these items:
·         Floppy Disks
·         Paper-based products such as bank or credit card statements
·         CD/DVD's

Off-site destruction for these items at their secure location*:
·         Hard-Drives
·         Magnetic Tapes

*Should you require it, Shred360 will provide you with a Certificate of Destruction for your records

If you are unsure of whether an item can be destroyed, bring it anyway - most items can be handled provided they are not hazardous. Please remove batteries or any other hazardous materials prior to bringing items to be shredded.  All shredded materials are recycled.
