Blackboard Course Setup Tool

  1. Log into Blackboard.
  2. Click the Courses tab.
  3. Click the Course Setup Tool link on the left side of the Courses tab.
  4. You will then be given two options: 
    • Customized Setup:  Allows for user input in the setup process and also allows users to reuse an old Blackboard course.
    • Express Setup:  The Blackboard system automatically creates a new course for each course section in CRSM.

Custom Setup for an Individual Course

  1. Choose the Custom Course Setup option.

  2. Click Next to see a list of your CRSM course sections.

  3. A list of your CRSM courses will be displayed.  Enable the checkbox for the course you want to setup.

  4. Then click Next.
  5. A list of available Blackboard courses will appear.  Enable the radio button of the Blackboard course to link to your CRSM course or enable the radio button for the Set Up a New Blackboard Course option.

  6. If you choose the Setup a New Blackboard Course option, you will be prompted to enter a Course Name and Course ID.

  7. Enter the Course Name and Course ID then click Next. NOTE:  The Course Name should not contain any special characters.

  8. A confirmation page will be displayed.  Please review and click Submit if correct.

  9. Your course should now be setup.  If additional CRSM course sections still remain to be linked, a list of Unlinked Sections will appear.
  10. To continue setting up CRSM course sections, click the link at the bottom of the screen to return to the Course Setup Tool.
  11. If no additional course sections remain to be linked, click the Courses tab to refresh the screen and see a list of available Blackboard courses.

Custom Setup for Grouping Courses

  1. Choose the Custom Course Setup option.

  2. Click Next to see a list of your CRSM course sections.

  3. A list of your CRSM courses will be displayed.  Enable the checkbox for the sections you want to group into the same Blackboard course.

  4. Then click Next.

  5. Select the Blackboard Course to give these class sections access to.
  6. Then click Next.

  7. A confirmation page will be displayed identifying the class sections you want to group and the Blackboard Course you want to give them access to.  Please review and click Submit if correct.

  8. Your course should now be setup.If additional CRSM course sections still remain to be linked, a list of Unlinked Sections will appear. 
  9. To continue setting up CRSM course sections, click the link at the bottom of the screen to return to the Course Setup Tool. 
  10. If no additional course sections remain to be linked, click theCourses tab to refresh the screen and see a list of available Blackboard courses.

Express Setup

  1. Choose the Express Course Setup option.

  2. Click Next to see a list of your CRSM course sections.

  3. The Course Setup Tool displays two columns.  On the left a list of new Blackboard courses that will be created for each of the CRSM courses.  On the right a list of CRSM courses that the Blackboard courses will be linked to. 
  4. Review the information provided for accuracy. 
  5. Then click Next.

  6. A message will appear that displays a list of all of your CRSM courses and which Blackboard course they are mapped to.
