Adobe Dreamweaver® is a web development application originally created by Macromedia®, and is now developed by Adobe Systems. The popularity of Dreamweaver is that it offers both a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) mode as well as a code-based web design mode which makes it user-friendly to coders and non-coders alike.

Is there a cost associated with Dreamweaver®?

Dreamweaver® CS3 is no longer available from Adobe; the new version is Dreamweaver® CS4. The “stand alone” educational version of Dreamweaver® CS4 retails for $199; Dreamweaver® can also be purchased as part of a number of higher priced Creative Suite® options.

You can download a trial version of the Dreamweaver® software from the Adobe website.

How do I use Dreamweaver®?

Clemson University has a campus wide license for the SkillPort Learning Resources. Training for Dreamweaver® MX and Dreamweaver® CS3 is available in SkillPort. Use the keywords Dreamweaver MX or Dreamweaver CS3 in the Search in SkillPort to find available resources.

Adobe has several resources available on their website to help you learn how to use Dreamweaver®. There are additional resources available on the web as well. We have linked some resources that we believe will help you in learning Dreamweaver® below.

  • Tutorials
    • Click the Tutorials link above.
    • On the next website, select the Product in the top left box.
    • Then select Getting Started in the Select a Topic list in the top right box.
    • A list of video tutorials will be displayed in the box in the middle of the screen.
    • Select a video. Then click the Play Video button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
    • Upon completing the video close the pop-up window to return to the list of videos again.
