Is it okay to install other software or file-sharing on my new Clemson laptop?
Your Clemson Windows laptop will arrive with a default configuration. You may use it like that - add software, data, etc. If your computer stops functioning because of some piece of software you installed, we can always refresh your c: drive to how it was when you first got your computer. Remember, your email, and My Documents are saved on the d: drive, so by refreshing your c: drive you should only lose the programs you installed, and not your important data unless the program you installed saved data on the c: drive (Please note that you should always back-up your important data as CCIT is not responsible for loss of data!!).
Please be aware that each additional program you install may affect the performance of your computer.
Additionally, please note that by accepting the Clemson Network use policy, you are agreeing to not violate US Copyright law. If you are using file-sharing programs such as KaZAA, Morpheus, Bearshare, Limewire, WINMx, AIMSTER, BitTorrent or others, you are taking full responsibility for the files you download, and possibly subjecting yourself to private lawsuits, or criminal prosecution. Software piracy is not a laughing matter, and is not treated as such on the Clemson campus.
