The CCIT Help Desk has two types of positions that we hire students for: Student Consultant and Student Assistant.
The student consultant position requires numerous technical skills. All applicants must have basic knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Mac, or Linux. Desktop applications, such as Microsoft Office, email clients, and web browsers are also required. Knowledge of HTML, programming languages, or Novell Netware are pluses. However, these are not required for employment.

As most of the work involves interacting with people as much as it involves solving computer problems, all applicants must also have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and enjoy helping others resolve problems. Applicants must also be reliable and dependable. Previous customer service experience or working with the public is an advantage.

The student assistant position requires less technical knowledge, but applicants still must possess excellent communication skills and other qualities useful for dealing with customers on a regular basis. Student assistants, with additional technical training, can work in a student consultant position.
