Consistent with Clemson's tradition of educational excellence, we aim to provide the best educational experience and work environment. The Civil Engineering Department is recognized nationally for its educational and research programs. The Department was ranked among the top 20 civil engineering programs in the U.S., and our graduates are highly sought after by employers.
Our students hold several regional, national and international championships. Many of our undergraduate students participate in research and Creative Inquiry with faculty and graduate students. Last year, One-third of students receiving the bachelor's degree from the Department had participated in research as undergraduate students. These activities keep students at the cutting edge of the profession and are regarded by students and employers as very rewarding.
The Civil Engineering Department has about 450 sophomore, junior and senior students, and 100 graduate students. We award about 100 BSCE, 30 MSCE and 7 PhD degrees per year. The Department has 22 faculty members and several visiting and research faculty. In 2009, the undergraduate program was ranked 13th in the nation among public universities.
