The Department of Civil Engineering offers graduate degree programs leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The primary emphasis areas offered in the department are: Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Construction Materials, Applied Fluid Mechanics and Transportation Systems. The faculty in these emphasis areas work closely together to form thrust areas of research in natural and manmade hazard mitigation and construction materials. Click here for more.

Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships

The department offers a number of finanical assistanships to highly qualified students. These are given in the form of teaching assistantships, research assistantships and fellowships.

The Graduate Student Body

The graduate student body is a diverse group of men and women, with a grad student to faculty ratio of about 4 to 1. Graduate student offices are located in Lowry Hall as well as in the off-campus research labs. The typical size of a graduate class is about 20 students in introductory classes and about 10 in upper level classes.
