Civil Engineering Program Educational Objectives (PEO)
- Graduates will demonstrate the ability to formulate and implement
designs for the built environment with consideration of functionality,
maintenance, safety, cost-effectiveness, and environmental
sustainability.
- Graduates will demonstrate the ability to apply the principles and
techniques of modern civil engineering analysis and design supported
by a foundation in: mathematical, physical, and social sciences;
economic, operational, and engineering analyses.
- Graduates will possess a breadth of knowledge that allows them to
practice civil engineering with an appropriate awareness of
professional issues.
- Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of professionalism and ethics, the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, and the ability to communicate effectively.
Civil Engineering Program Outcomes
We will produce civil engineering graduates who:
- Have an understanding of and ability to apply a knowledge of traditional mathematics, science, and engineering skills and to use modern engineering tools
Intended Program Outcomes
1a. Graduates will have proficiency in mathematics through differential equations, probability and statistics, calculus-based physics, and general chemistry.
1b. Graduates will have an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
1c. Graduates will have an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
- Are able to design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data in more than one Civil Engineering discipline

2a. Graduates will be able to design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data (in at least two of the major Civil Engineering disciplines).
- Can produce acceptable technical designs for systems, components, and processes to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.
