Each student in Civil Engineering is assigned an academic advisor.  If you are a Civil Engineering student and your name does not appear on the list, please contact CJ Bolding in Lowry 109. Your faculty advisor will advise you on course selection, academic standing and graduation requirements.

Contact your advisor

If you need to speak with your advisor, please make an appointment with him or her directly. Sign-up sheets are generally posted outside faculty offices one week prior to the first day of registration. You must sign-up for a meeting with your advisor in order to be cleared for registration.

Curriculum Planning

It is a good idea for you to plan the courses you will take each semester until you graduate. The curriculum has been laid out in the ideal sense, but it is not unusual for a student to need a customized plan of study to fit individual needs. Therefore, you should develop your plan, and review it with your advisor. Then you should revise your plan as conditions change.

Course Registration

Registration occurs during the second half of each semester. See the University's Academic Calendar for more information.

There are two deadlines for dropping classes. The first occurs about one month into the semester, and is the last date to drop without record of having enrolled in the class. The second occurs about ten weeks into the semester, and is the last day to drop with a grade of "W". You should be fully aware of the consequences of class registration actions, and should discuss these with your advisor, as needed.

More Advice

In addition to these special required times for speaking to your advisor, please note that your advisor can serve as a good source of other information related to the University, the department and the profession of Civil Engineering.
