Dr. Lickfield received a B.S. in Chemistry from Ursinus College and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Clemson University. He served as a Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry and in the School of Textiles prior to joining the faculty in 1985. His formal training is in the areas of Physical Chemistry and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy. His general areas of interest include synthesis and characterization of polymeric materials, polymer surface chemistry and modifications, computational chemistry/molecular modeling of the interactions controlling surface adsorption, dissolution, wetting, and adhesion phenomena in polymer systems, and their applications to textile and polymer materials.
