Theme Four

Water and energy informatics, sensors, monitoring, and computational modeling support

Theme Leader: Dr. David White, Cyberinfrastructure Technology Integration

This theme addresses the need for improved data on water availability and sustainability at the catchment (watershed) scale, including information collection, data management, integration of water and energy databases, and decision support tools as well as addressing monitoring and information management for smart electrical grids.

 Theme-related topics include:

  • Advanced sensors and measurement systems
  • Improved water quality sensors
  • Wireless sensing
  • Real-time monitoring
  • Remote sensing and satellite imagery
  • Intelligent, distributed systems
  • Decision-support systems
  • Big data and data mining
  • Decision support systems (DSS)
  • Geographic information systems (GIS)
