Extending Advanced Automotive Technical Education
CA2VES is excited to announce a new partnership with the Center for Advanced Automotive Technology (CAAT), a National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) center which represents a partnership between Macomb Community College (Warren, Michigan) and Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan). The mission of CAAT is focused on increasing the pool of automotive technicians and engineers to work with advanced vehicle systems to serve industry; leading the way in collaboration among education, industry, government and professional associations; and serving as a regional resource for developing and disseminating advanced automotive technology curriculum.
This new partnership recognizes synergies between both organizations as CA2VES is focused on advancing aviation and automotive technician education that will support workforce preparedness and economic development. Most importantly this partnership serves to extend the reach of automotive technician education through exciting collaboration opportunities.
These collaborative efforts will include mutual support of automotive focused virtual reality development; outreach initiatives focused on improving STEM and Advanced Manufacturing public, parent and career awareness; and working together to support dissemination of automotive state-of-the-art training and curriculum resources. These joint efforts represent commitment to the overall charge of NSF ATE centers, dedicated to producing national and regional approaches to key issues in specific technology fields to prepare technicians for the high-technology workplaces, which is vitally important to the nation’s prosperity and security.
