According to his peers at Erwin Penland, if they had to choose one word to describe Ty it would be “articulate”. Just listening to Ty speak will make thoughts come to your mind such as “good point” or “insightful observation”. Clients have wondered at times whether or not Ty is using an invisible teleprompter based on the way he has with words. Some say it’s because he grew up the son of a minister. (A stereotypically-correct son of a minister.)

Hired in 1998 as a Junior Account Executive, Ty has had an outstanding career at Erwin Penland. He was quickly promoted through the ranks and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Group Account Director. His first big project for EP was moving to Nashville to run point on management of a Bowl Game for HomePoint.com. Later, at the age of 28, he managed all of First Union’s merger communications during an intense and public proxy fight to successfully become part of Wachovia. He’s continued to be recognized as one of the key drivers of client business at Erwin Penland, and is universally loved by clients and colleagues alike.

Ty has an uncanny ability to develop dozens of solutions to a single problem. He has always said that, “If I weren’t paid to be in advertising, I would do it for free as a hobby.” Proving the point, he’s taught advertising to Clemson students for over seven years now and has helped lead the Clemson National Student Advertising Competition team for over five years. Ty also serves as the director of Erwin Penland’s college outreach efforts, the largest of which is the Erwin Center.

Since joining EP straight out of Clemson, Ty’s clients have included Advance America, BI-LO, CARQUEST, Orian Rugs, Sears Auto Center, First Union, Wachovia, Wells Fargo, General Motors, Greenville Hospital System, HealthFirst, HomePoint.com, Michelin, and Uniroyal.

After a 30+ year career in advertising, mostly in New York, Andy recently left his position as Chief Creative Officer at Erwin Penland to concentrate more on teaching and preparing the next generation of industry stars. Andy has won most of the major national creative awards while working at some of the most well known advertising agencies in the country, including Saatchi & Saatchi, Warwick Baker O'Neill, SSC&B Lintas, and Erwin Penland. He's led several creative departments, working on brands such as Heineken, Lexmark, Panasonic, Verizon, Denny's, Tylenol and many Procter and Gamble brands. Andy strongly believes in the wisdom and humanity of the consumer and has tried to imbue that in all of his work. Now, he applies those same beliefs to his teaching.

Alicia Littleton (B.S. Applied Computer Science, Southern Wesleyan University) is a Marketing Technology Specialist at Erwin Penland. Over the past nine years, Alicia’s experience and unique background has allowed her to flourish in every aspect of the technology industry, helping to define best-practices and guidelines along the way. With a passion for helping others understand technology, she has been fortunate to be used as a technology liaison for a broad range of clients including Verizon, Michelin, Denny’s and Advance America.

Before graduating Southern Wesleyan University with a BS in Applied Computer Science in 2006, Alicia was handpicked for both course-specific and campus-wide leadership roles. After graduating, her leadership skills continued to evolve while she furthered her digital marketing knowledge and experience at an international technology group, where she quickly advanced to a lead developer and project management position.

Wanting to pursue a more communication-oriented role, Alicia joined Erwin Penland in 2011 as a technology-focused account manager. During her time at Erwin Penland, she has worked in every aspect of digital communication, and is currently leveraging her uncommon skillset and experience as a Marketing Technology Specialist, working with clients, account managers, strategists, creative and developers to gather valuable insights and information to find the best technology solution in the digital communication space.

Alicia also continues to serve as a subject matter expert, blog author and content editor for various technology-focused communication efforts.

Over his 38-year career, Bill has managed annual media budgets from a few thousand dollars to well over $100 million. He has worked in every media channel and on a broad range of product and service categories, including financial services, packaged goods, apparel, economic development, telecommunications, restaurants, entertainment, beverages, automotive, business-to-business, and more. He and his team plan, buy, monitor and analyze media across the Southeast and the country, specializing in understanding local markets and seeking out new opportunities to reach consumers.

As Chief Intelligence Officer for Erwin Penland, Roger serves a varied roster of clients such as CIT Bank, Michelin, Advance America, Denny's and Verizon in crafting strategies designed to maximize brand and consumer interactions in both the physical and digital worlds. A North Carolina native and UNC grad, Roger honed his strategic planning skills at some of America's best shops, including BBDO and DMB&B, and also spent time on the client side as VP Marketing for a golf management firm that held courses from Florida to New Jersey. During his tenure there, he architected one of the first financially successful reciprocal membership programs in the public golf category.

Dr. Lori PindarDr. Lori M. Pindar

Dr. Lori M. Pindar (Ph.D. Educational Leadership, Clemson University) coordinates registration and advising for the department. Her scholarly interests include university branding and prestige, tokenism, tempered radicals, gifted students in higher education and health communication. Lori’s research has encompassed a range of topics addressing issues related to authentic messages in institutional branding in relational, institutional, and societal contexts, the college experience of gifted and minority student groups, including student-athletes, and the treatment of health and disease in higher education. Her work has been presented nationally and appeared in the Handbook of Religion and Health Communication.

Lori advises the Communication Studies Ambassadors and the students in Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honors Society. She also assists in the coordination of registration and advising for the department. Lori's instructional responsibilities include Communication Design and Introduction to Leadership Theories. She is actively involved in university life as an instructor and advisor. Within the private sector, she also is a pageant coach and communication consultant for non-profit organizations. Lori currently teaches COMM 3220 (Communication Design), HEHD 4000/6000 (Introduction to Leadership Theories), and runs a Creative Inquiry course on the topic of branding in higher education.

Lori received her MA in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Georgia ('11) and BA of Communication Studies from Clemson University ('09).
