Fraternity and Sorority Life

Greek Life at Clemson

Twenty-two percent of Clemson's undergraduates participate as members of one of 38 national organizations. Our office assists the seven governing councils' fraternity and sorority members in upholding their mission to commit to the values of Greek unity, leadership, service, scholarship and accountability.

Interfraternity Council (IFC) fraternity recruitment

Twice a year, a haze of smoke rises above Bowman Field marking the beginning of fraternity recruitment. Tents with Greek letters of campus fraternities pervade Bowman as brothers recruit new members and share conversation while grilling various dishes. The smoke from the food grilling outside is what gives these gatherings their names, "Smokers." Interfraternity Council recruitment starts on Sundays, usually in Tillman Auditorium, with invitational parties beginning on Tuesdays.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) fraternity and sorority recruitment

Students interested in joining a National Pen-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organization must attend the NPHC Convocation program in either the fall or spring semester. The convocation gives students an opportunity to learn about each NPHC organization and their respective membership requirements.

Panhellenic Council (CPC) sorority recruitment

College Panhellenic Council sorority recruitment occurs in the fall semester once classes start at Clemson. Students are divided up into recruitment groups by residential halls, and a "Recruitment Councilor," also known as a "Pi Chi," will advise each recruitment group. Each Pi Chi will be an undisclosed sorority sister, unaffiliated with her sorority during recruitment.
