Katie Jurewicz

Katie Jurewicz is a Masters student in Industrial Engineering under Dr. David Neyens, and she holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University. Katie did a year-long co-op with BMW at Plant Spartanburg in the research and innovation department where she led a project working with the implementation of Google Glass for vehicle analysis and a project where she managed development and deployment of an automatic visual inspection system for vehicle assembly. It was after her experience at BMW that she wanted to apply her interests in research and innovation to healthcare. Since then she has worked on various projects on human factors in healthcare under Dr. Neyens. For one project in particular, she created a simulation model for an orthopedic clinic at Greenville Health System to explore different options of implementing a patient preference data collection tool to aid in patient-centered care. Katie has also interned with Optum Technology, a UnitedHealth Group company, where she supported the design phase of software development. Katie’s research interests are technology in healthcare and patient safety.
