Lawrence Frendendall

Dr. Lawrence Fredendall is a Trevillian Distinguished Professor and a Professor of Management in the college of Business and Behavioral Sciences at Clemson University. He is currently Clemson University’s Director of the Institute for Advancement of Healthcare (IAHC), which is a research collaboration between Clemson University and Greenville Health Systems and he is the chair of the Clemson University School of health Research (CUSHR). He served in the Provost Office of Clemson University as a Provost Fellow for 2013-2014. Prior research funding about healthcare was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and was titled: “Creating Learning Systems with Mobile Technology to Improve Coordination in Perioperative Services.” He published one book titled: Basics of Supply Chain Management (St. Lucie Press, 2001) and has another book in progress about Lean Work Design. He has published 50 research articles and 17 non-academic articles. In addition, he has made more than 100 presentations at conferences about his research and related topics. During his tenure at Clemson University, he has won multiple awards, including the Graduate Teaching Excellence Award in 2007 and the Senior Scholar Research Excellence Award in 2013. In addition, he has won the Best Paper Award from the Operations Management Division of the Academy of Management. He is currently the Editor of the Quality Management Journal published by ASQ, The Global Voice of Quality, and is a Senior Editor at the Production Operations Management journal and an Associate Editor at the Journal of Operations Management. He started at Clemson University in 1990 and has been active in research and curriculum development throughout his entire career. He received both his MBA and his PhD from Michigan State University where his research emphasized supply chain management.
