Mark Scheurer

Dr. Scheurer is the Chief Medical Officer of the Medical University of South Carolina’s Children’s Hospital, co-leading the schematic design and design development processes for a new tertiary and quaternary Children’s Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina that is scheduled to open in 2019. Additionally, he is co-leading the planning for a new pediatric ambulatory surgical center and office building in North Charleston, South Carolina. With a clinical background in pediatric cardiac intensive care, Dr. Scheurer has focused previous clinical research efforts on delineating and decreasing the morbidity and mortality associated with critical forms of congenital heart disease. Recently, he has collaborated with a group of inaugural leaders to form the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4). This collaborative quality improvement organization is using leading edge methods to utilize “big data” to improve quality and outcomes in congenital heart disease.
