Charles H. Houston Center researcher explores teacher preparation exam

CLEMSON – Lamont A. Flowers, executive director of the Charles H. Houston Center, participated in the Commission on Access, Diversity and Excellence’s 2013 Summer Meeting in Seattle, WA on July 26th.

Flowers participated in a session titled, “PREPARE: Increasing Minority Success on Teacher Preparation Exams.”

"During the session, our project team which consists of representatives at ETS and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, discussed scholarly information pertaining to racial differences in PRAXIS test scores. We also proposed an intervention model for improving PRAXIS Core test scores and passage rates for African American and Hispanic students in teacher education programs," said Flowers.
