The Institute for Biological Interfaces of Engineering (IBIOE) at Clemson University Invites Applications for Research Faculty
A research faculty position is available August 15, 2008 for a highly motivated individual to join a trans-disciplinary Institute focused on collaborative, cellular engineering research for biomedicine and the development of diagnostic tissue test systems for the improvement of healthcare. The Clemson University IBIOE received state approval in May 2007 and offers outstanding potential for interdisciplinary collaboration and training.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D., or equivalent degree in Cell Biology, Animal Science, Biochemistry, Veterinary Medicine, Molecular Biology, or a related area of science. Post-doctoral research experience in stem cell biology, tissue culture, as well as expertise in three or more of the following techniques are required: RT-PCR, cell transfection and construction of expression vectors, Western blot analysis, ELISA, immunofluorescent staining protocols, or nucleic acid sequence analysis. Good writing skills and excellent command of the English language are essential. Outstanding research and publication track record are desirable.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will include management and implementation of cell biology component of the Institute, specifically, examining the cell mechanisms and behaviors resulting in 3-D tissue systems. Additional responsibilities will include data analysis, manuscript compilation, grant/contract application preparation, interfacing with program directors, potential financial donors, industrial liaisons, and clinical scientists, pursuing new funding sources, supervising students and research staff in IBIOE technical functions, and assisting in the compilation of IBIOE reports and budgets.
