The Center hosted its opening events on March 7-8, 2013 on the campus of Clemson University. On March 7th at Clemson University, a Presidential Colloquium was held and featured Dr. R. Craig Wood, a nationally known expert on school finance, who spoke on Financing Education: Economic Development and the Ethical Imperative. This event was co-sponsored by the Center and the Rutland Institute for Ethics. There was also a meeting of South Carolina members of the CLLE Advisory Board.
A highlight of the Center's opening events was a meeting of the superintendent's division of South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA), held at the Madren Center on the Clemson campus. The Center for Leadership in Law and Education and Clemson University was honored to host this meeting.
Friday, March 8th, was dedicated to conversations about school finance that began with a buffet breakfast with Dr. Wood in which guests were invited to discuss current educational finance issues in a small group setting. Dr. Wood also met with leaders in South Carolina educational finance on March 7th.
