Day 1 - Begin 8:30am

8:30     Introduction and Program Objectives
8:45     Why 7-Color Process for Your Packaging?

•    Mark Samworth, ESKOArtwork
Where does CMYK fail in product packaging? Why 7-color process? What is the baseline for color management that must be understood to move towards 7-color process? In an ideal process, what would a 7-color workflow look like, and what benefits would be expected?

9:30     Defining Extended Gamut Inks and Process Limitations

•    Kevin Bourquin, Cyber Graphics
What color are the extra inks? What system is in place for me? How will I choose the optimum ink set? Does 7-color process work with all printing? What are the limiting factors for implementation?

10:15     Break
10:30     Color Tolerances, Process Control, and Managing Expectations

•    Jay Sperry, Clemson University
How does ∆E tolerancing change when moving to 7-color process builds of brand colors? What process control expectations need to be met? What are my key indicators for predictable printing? What are realistic tolerances for 2 and 3 color builds?

11:15     From Customer File to Color Separation

•    Mark Samworth, ESKOArtwork
How do you convert customer spot colors to 7-color? How are the ingredients determined? How are images separated into 7 channels? How accurate are the color translations? What file formats and workflows are available?

12:00     Lunch
1:00       Hands-on Breakout Session Round Robin

•    Ink Set Formulation, Evaluation, and Analysis (Led by an Ink Company TBD)
•    Creating Build Colors and Analyzing Consistency (Led by Jay Sperry, Clemson University)
•    Selective Gamut Expansion Workshop (Led by Mark Samworth)

4:30     Social Hour at the Madren Center

Day 2 - Begin 8:30am
8:30     Reconvene and Day Objectives
8:45     Keys to Successful Commercialization

•    John Fulcoly, Packaging CPR
What is the value potential of an extended gamut platform? What groundwork must be laid with the CPC, converters, designers, and prepress providers? What are the keys to sucessful implementation?

9:30     Opaltone and Commercial Reality

•    Matthew Bernasconi, Opaltone and Abel Molina, Opaltone Mexico S.A. De C.V.
What are the cost-benefits of standardization? How does Opaltone help the environment? This presentation will touch on: prepress workflow, inkjet proofing, OT7 Printer and Ink Certification. Conclude with several commercial success stories.

10:15     Break

10:30     Proofing Options and Systems for Expanded Gamut

•    Kevin Bourquin, Cyber Graphics
Proofing expanded gamut continues to push limitations of existing systems. A review of inkjet and digital halftone systems are presented. These systems are evaluated for the ability to proof various expanded gamut color systems.

11:30     Closing Notes, Evaluations, and Certificates
