The Joseph F. Sullivan Center is an interdisciplinary health center at Clemson University! We are one of the oldest continuously operating nurse-managed health centers in the United States. Since 1978, the Joseph F. Sullivan Center has offered programs and services to improve the health, education, and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

Vision and Values

We will be a highly valued and trusted resource for the improvement of individual, family and community health, providing a platform for the integration of teaching, research and service that directly benefits our students, our clients and our community.

Care

We are a caring community. We demonstrate it by the way we treat ourselves (through self-awareness, self-care and self-growth, for we cannot extend care to others without first caring for ourselves), our coworkers, colleagues and clients.

Continuous Learning and Improvement

We are not satisfied with the status quo. We continuously assess and improve our skills and our services. We delight and astound our customers by doing little things to exceed their expectations.

Collaboration

We achieve synergy by working with our clients, faculty, students and community partners. Mother Teresa said, "You can do what I can't do. I can do what you can't do. Together we can do great things."

Choice

We respect an individual's right to choose and recognize that individual lifestyle choices determine health outcomes. We will support our patients' right to make informed choices about their health.

Quotes from letters of support for this year’s award winner: “She uses a variety of innovative teaching methods to promote student thinking and interacting with peers to master the content; she is a very innovative teacher and her classroom is both fun and challenging for students as they move through the essential course content; and her enthusiasm for nursing and for pathophysiology is contagious.”
