NOTE:
Currently, ARTS does not have grant funds available for this fiscal
year (July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011). Please check back as funds may
be available again in future fiscal years.
ARTS grants are available to any municipality or publicly-funded agency
in South Carolina for any civil engineering project using whole tires,
shredded tires, chipped tires, crumb rubber, etc. This includes uses
such as:
Shredded
Tire Embankments
Drainage Layers
Retaining Wall Backfill
Whole Tire Retaining Walls
Rubberized Asphalt |
ARTS also welcomes applicants to suggest project
ideas not listed here. All grant applications must be approved by
ARTS and the SC Waste Tire Committee.
Grant money comes from the state's Waste Tire Trust
Fund. A $2 fee is paid on each new tire sold in South Carolina.
Of that fee, 50 cents is placed in the Waste Tire Trust Fund. The
fund is used for grants to local governments and to promote the
collection and recycling of waste tires. Grants are now accepted
on an on-going basis.
