Donald Clayton presenting his talk "Dust as Tracers of Chemical Evolution" at the conference "Frontiers of Astronomy 1975" in honor of Fred Hoyle's 60th birthday. The cosmic-chemical evolution theory of isotopic anomalies in presolar dust was first presented in this talk and in several papers by Clayton in the late 1970s (esp. Moon & Planets 19, 109 (1978)). The setting was very inspiring. The paintings adorn the monastery on the Isola San Giorgio in Venice, where the conference took place. For an account read Nature News & Views 256, 535 (1975) by John Faulkner. Photo on July 18, 1975.
