Fred Hoyle and Donald Clayton in Clayton's office during Hoyle's third research visit to Rice University. On this date, April 25, 1985, Hoyle also delivered the Marlar Memorial Lecture at Rice University. Clayton's collaborations with Hoyle were then in their 18th year. Hoyle was 70 years old, and Clayton was 50 years old.
