Students must apply to become part of the GATE program. This will happen when a student completes his/her application for admission to the Department of Automotive Engineering. Applicants must satisfy admission requirements to the automotive engineering graduate program at Clemson University, including the following:
Students should use their personal statements to make a case for admission to the GATE program. The document will be uploaded as part of the standard admission application. It should detail interest and career plans in the subject areas of the GATE track. It should also highlight qualifications and experience.
GATE applicants should submit three letters of recommendation.
Students who are chosen for the GATE program may also receive a fellowship or other financial support. Selections are made usually in the Fall semester, using information from the student's admissions application. Normally, there is additional paperwork.
Please note that the number and type of fellowships awarded are limited and depend on availability of funding.
