ECE 495 Senior Design
ECE 495 is the first of a two class senior design sequence in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University, taught by Dr. Timothy Burg.
Students in this class participate in group projects each semester from
the areas of Robotics and Mechatronics. The emphasis is on giving
students experience in real-time control systems, computer vision, and
in the use of MATLAB Simulink with xPC for prototyping their design and
interfacing with hardware. Past projects in this class have included
Virtual Haptic Manipulatives for K-12 Education, Master-Follower
Surgery Robots, Mirrored Aquatic Environments, and Autonomous
Vision-Based Robotic Ping-Tac-Toe. In addition to the technical aspects
of the project, emphasis is placed on: the development of effective
technical communication skills, ethical considerations in engineering,
product life-cycle analysis, teamwork, intellectual property, and
