Clemson Research Facilities

Rhodes Annex

The 29,000-square-foot, three-story addition to Rhodes Hall is part of a development plan unveiled by President Barker in 2007 that includes campus-wide facility and information technology improvements. The annex was designed for communication, collaboration, and networking among undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. Its numerous laboratories include those dedicated to research to support the bioengineering BS curriculum. Among these are laboratories for undergraduate research in tissue engineering, bioinstrumentation, and biomechanics. Several other laboratories are designed to facilitate integration of undergraduate and graduate education. The annex features classrooms equipped with the latest distance-learning capabilities. On the second floor are an administrative office for the undergraduate program and a spacious area that encourages informal networking activity. Rhodes Hall Annex was designed by Michael Keeshen & Associates, Inc. and Atlanta-based Lord, Aeck & Sargent.

Godley-Snell Animal Reseach Center

The animal facility at Clemson University under the supervision of Research Services are AAALAC accredited, regulated by USDA and housed in the Godley Snell Research Center, a state-of-the art facility built for animal research and opened in August 1994. The university attending veterinarian, Dr. Harold Farris, and his staff provide assistance for animal care, anesthesia and euthanasia among others. Equipped with three surgical tables, anesthesia machines, ECG/BP monitors, plasma cleaners, surgical power equipment, steam and ETO sterilizers, X-Ray unit, X-Ray table, darkroom, animal cages and various equipment.
