Bioengineering

CU Summer Programs

The following programs are designed to provide students the opportunity to engage in bioengineering over the summer. While the study abroad program is for Clemson students only, the NASA-REU program is open to students from other institutions state- and nation-wide.

  • NASA-REU - The SC Space Consortium sponsors a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) that centers on space biomedical engineering for South Carolina residents and students.

  • Bioengineering Study Abroad - The department has developed a summer program for Clemson undergraduates under the direction of Dr. John Desjardins. This six-credit opportunity in Brussels, Belgium combines research and class-work with cultural excursions.

  • BBSI - In September 2002, the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation selected Clemson University as one of the academic institutions in the United States to host the first Bioengineering and Bioinformatics Summer Institute Programs in 2003. While 2009 was the final BBSI session to be offered at Clemson, the department is proud of its rich history with this high value program.
