Professional
Dr. Hubbard has held several engineering positions in industry, where his work included the design and development of analog and digital electronic hardware, signal processing algorithms, software, and systems for a variety of applications, including audio signal processing, weighing and force measurement, speech processing, and electronic warfare. Dr. Hubbard joined the faculty of Clemson's ECE Department in 1998.

Academic
Teaching is the focus of Dr. Hubbard's work at Clemson, where he has taught courses in signal processing, probability, statistics, and random processes, electronics, systems, computing, and circuits. He also served for two years as director of the Effective Technical Communications Program in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences. Dr. Hubbard received the Lewis T. Fitch Award for Excellence in Teaching (awarded to one professor annually by Clemson ECE students) in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. He also received the Byars Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2002 and the Murray Stokely Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2004, both awarded by the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences.

As time permits, Dr. Hubbard enjoys research in applied signal processing. His most recent work concerns the development of statistical signal analysis techniques for the assessment of electric power quality.
