Students and Faculty Honored at Dinner- April 2002
The 2002 Industrial Engineering Awards Recognition and Dinner were held on April 11 in the Hendrix Center Ballroom. This event, held annually to recognize accomplishments of students and faculty, featured Trevor Adair as guest speaker. Mr. Adair, coach of our Clemson Soccer Team, provided some insights to success in all endeavors. He especially emphasized the importance of having a passion for what we do in any field of activity.A highlight of the evening is always presentation of awards to students for their achievements. Our oldest award, outstanding senior, has been presented annually to a student for all-around excellence since 1985.
This year's winner, Adrienne Park (seen at right receiving her award from department chair Mike Leonard) adds this award to her recognition for academic achievement in past years. Other students receiving awards were Kunal Kapoor (outstanding teaching assistant), Rohini Bhargava (Lindenmeyer leadership and public service), Brenton Meese (IIE award of excellence), Michelle Chang (outstanding junior), Laura Mosher (Alpha Pi Mu senior academic achievement), James Glenn and Kristen Kelley (junior academic achievement), and Kerry McGuire (sophomore academic achievement).
In the tradition of students honoring faculty, IIE annually presents an award to faculty based on a selection made by the students.
Dr. Joel Greenstein was selected by the students as outstanding IE professor for 2001-2002. IIE also presented Dr. W. J. (Biff) Kennedy with a gift in recognition of his years of wisdom and mentoring to students
The department was assisted in holding this dinner by support from companies with ties to IE at Clemson. Sponsors providing support for this dinner were IIE chapter 247, Milliken and Company, C4, GE Power Systems, Operations Associates, Ethicon-Johnson and Johnson, Schlumberger Sema, and Duer/Carolina Coil. Their help is appreciated.
