Clemson student receives best paper award at the IIE Annual Conference and Expo 2009

Sunarin Chanta received the best paper award in the Operations Research track at the IIE Annual Conference and Expo 2009 held in Miami, FL May 30 - June 3. Her work titled "A Bi-Objective Covering Location Model for EMS Systems" focuses on optimally locating EMS vehicles at existing stations in Hanover County, VA in order to mitigate disparities in service between urban and rural patients. Sunarin is pursuing her research with the support and guidance of Dr. Maria Mayorga and Dr. Margaret Wiecek from Clemson University and Dr. Laura McLay from Virginia Commonwealth University.
