MS Student Wins Patient Safety Champion Award

CLEMSON, SOUTH CAROLINA - Susan "Susie" Robinson, a Master's student in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University, was recently awarded the student award for the 6th Annual Lewis Blackman Awards Patient Safety Champion Awards Program. The awards were established by the founding partners of the South Carolina Patient Safety Symposium: Health Sciences South Carolina, PHT Services, Ltd., the South Carolina Hospital Association, and Mothers Against Medical Error. Details about the award can be seen here.

According to Dr. David Neyens, "Dr. Ashley Childers nominated her based on the research that Susie did with [Dr. Childers] and me, the work that Susie is doing with me at GHS, and Susie's involvement in IHI Open School with [Dr. Childers]." Dr. Neyens went on to explain that, "This is a pretty substantial honor for Susan, ... and also the department, given that she is the first IE student to win the award."
