Continuing a tradition of many years, the Clemson mini-Conference will be held Thursday afternoon and all day Friday, with support from NSA. It consists of about a dozen 40-minute talks from invited speakers talking on any topic they like. About 100 people attend, mostly from the Southeast, but a few come from just about anywhere, including Canada, Europe and even South Africa. This year the speakers are:
Stephen Hartke (Univ Nebraska, Lincoln); Martyn Mulder (Erasmus University Rotterdam); Dan Kleitman (MIT); Vijay Vazirani (Ga Tech); Holly Swisher (Oregon State); Raymond Greenlaw (Armstrong Atlantic); Dwight Duffus (Emory); Rao Li (USC Aiken); Patrick Bahls (UNC Asheville); Dante Manna (Virginia Wesleyan College); Allen Schwenk (Western Michigan)
Participation
Registration starts at 1pm on Thursday, with the first talk at 1:30pm. Friday talks are from 9am to 5pm
The conference is low key, low expense. There is no registration fee, and refreshments are provided free-of-charge. This permits many graduate students to attend. Each speaker is asked to permit us to place their slides/presentation on the web-page. More information about the conference can be found at http://www.cs.clemson.edu/~goddard/MINI/
Lodging is available at the Comfort Inn (864-653-3600) at a rate of $64.00 plus tax or you may choose to stay at one of the other hotels in the area. Greenville-Spartanburg airport is about 50 minutes from Clemson. You can make arrangements with the Airport Shuttle (1-800-669-6463) for your transportation needs. (24 hour notice required). For those intending to drive to the conference, a guest parking permit can be issued to anyone that requests one.
