General Engineering

Summer Immersion Program for Incoming Freshmen

Clemson University’s Engineering Summer Immersion Program (ESIP) for Incoming Freshmen

ESIP is an early entry program designed for first-time General Engineering majors in the College of Engineering and Science (CoES).  The program allows freshmen to get a head start on introductory engineering courses and to explore engineering careers while networking with SC industry representatives, COES faculty, graduate students and other undergraduates.

Any first-time General Engineering major may participate, but we specifically encourage those who have earned college credit in math, chemistry or physics through Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate Programs or dual enrollment.

Students may choose from several online or on campus engineering or general education courses that are taught during the second summer session.

General Engineering students who participate in ESIP have several advantages. They will:

  • progress more quickly toward their official engineering major
  • receive personalized advising and registration assistance for summer classes
  • meet and interact with engineers from local industry and learn about the latest cutting edge research from faculty, which assists students in making better informed career decisions
  • acclimate to the campus and to the demands of college in a more relaxed atmosphere
