• A Hamamatsu stabilized picosecond light pulser (PLP-02) as the excitation source producing 33 ps (fwhm) light pulses at 632 nm with a repetition rate of 1 MHz.
• The detector: Hamamatsu R928P photomultiplier tube operated at -2 kV using an EG&G Ortec 556 high-voltage power supply.
• The detector electronics (EG&G Ortec): two 9307 discriminators, a 457 biased time-to-amplitude converter, and a 916A multichannel analyzer.
