Dr. Rodrigo Martinez-Duarte

Rodrigo Martinez-Duarte joined the department in 2013 as an Assistant Professor. He was previously a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. His expertise lies at the interface between micro/nanofabrication, carbonaceous materials, electrokinetics and microfluidics. He is considered a pioneer of carbon-electrode Dielectrophoresis, a technology for bioparticle manipulation. He has also participated in different interdisciplinary projects conducting research in Spain, India, Mexico and South Korea. He is a Reviewer for leading journals in his field, including Lab on a Chip and Electrophoresis; a Councilor for the AES Electrophoresis Society; and also Co-chair of the society’s annual meeting in 2014. He is a member of ASME and IEEE and was the recipient of the Public Impact fellowship at UC Irvine in 2010.
