Bio:

Dr. Peng is an Associate Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Clemson University. He teaches MSE 3260, 2100, and 8090. He has been the principal investigator (PI) or co-PI for the research projects awarded by federal funding agencies, such as the Department of Energy (DoE), Airforce Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has authored and co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal papers, with more than one thousand citations. He is currently serving as the secretary-elect of the Basic Science Division of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) and secretary of ACerS Carolinas Section. Before this appointment, He served as a member of the American Ceramic Society Bulletin Editorial Board.

Research Interests:

Dr. Peng's current research is focused on (1) advanced processing and manufacturing of ceramic components and devices for extreme environments, energy conversion, and sensors, (2) understanding and predicting material's processing, microstructure, and property relations using machine learning / artificial intelligence.
