As an Engineering and Science major at Clemson, you will be a member of a global campus of thinkers, problem solvers, and innovators. We want to give you the tools to connect intellectual and economic development on an international scale. That connection is international study.
Clemson students have had great experiences studying abroad across the globe, from Argentina to Australia; Scotland to Singapore; France to Morocco! With programs like Semester at Sea, students can sail around the world while taking classes and participating in research. Civic Engagement organizations like Engineers Without Borders promote personal growth and collaborative problem solving while helping establish efficient and affordable life necessities.
While pursuing a degree in Engineering or Science at Clemson, students who take advantage of international study opportunities are able to take courses related to their major, General Education requirements, or cultural interest.
We work with each student to find courses that will transfer back to Clemson and are useful for degree progress. Consortiums like the Global Engineering Education Exchange (GE3) allow students in the College of Engineering and Science to take the specific courses needed for their major. While there are opportunities for language immersion available, students are able to take courses in English if they prefer. They can even take language courses, depending on their proficiency. While the traditional time span is an academic semester; students can study for short periods (such as Spring Break), or lengthen their stay to an entire academic year.
Studying abroad can be very affordable. Many schools that our students attend allow them to pay tuition at Clemson in-state rates (even if you come from out of state!)! Students are also able to use most forms of scholarship awards (depending on award requirements), and can apply for more with our help!
