It is a tremendous honor to serve as Clemson University’s Chief Financial Officer. As a member of President Barker’s leadership team, it is my desire to ensure that Clemson continue to be a great investment and educational experience for students and their families.
As the University executes its land-grant mission of instruction, research and extended public service, the Finance Division is committed to supporting campus leaders in transforming the University’s bold vision into a reality. The Finance Team combines its diverse experience to provide decision support and innovative business solutions that facilitate the advancement of University initiatives and develop integrated financial strategies for efficient resource utilization.
The Finance Division has reorganized to better serve the needs of the University and its stakeholders. The Office of the Chief Financial Officer is supported by the Comptroller’s Office, Procurement Services, the Office of Budgets and Financial Planning, University Revenues and Receivables, and Sponsored Programs Accounting and Administration. Additionally, new functional units have been established including the Business Enhancement Strategies Team, Capital Planning and Financing Team, Cash and Treasury Operations Team, and Office of Resource Efficiency and Process Improvement.
Our team is united by a common desire to promote data-driven decision making and problem solving, collaboration and communication with the goals of improving resource utilization at Clemson University and developing a culture of efficiency and effectiveness. We are committed to developing metrics and analyses to monitor and assess institutional financial health, resource allocation and utilization, enterprise risk, system integrity, and business processes to ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. We will engage senior leaders, faculty, staff, students and the community in developing solutions to overcome the University’s strategic and financial challenges.
The upcoming fiscal year will be an exciting one as the Division grows as a team and deploys strategies that create value through improved efficiencies and decision processes. I am confident in the talents and leadership abilities of the Finance Team. I am encouraged by the progress the Finance Division has already made, but there is still much to be accomplished. We will continue to steward the University’s resources in an environment of quality and integrity and strengthen relationships with stakeholders through honesty and fairness.
